/ BOCCIA AUSTRALIA – DANIEL MICHEL

Daniel Michel who is a part of the Australian Paralympic Boccia team, suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2. This causes him to experience severe locomotor dysfunction, essentially causing him to be wheelchair bound and require assistance with everyday tasks such as eating, drinking and showering.

Over the next 3 years Daniel is on the road to Rio in 2016. To get to Rio Daniel has to compete in 3 international competitions which will be the qualifiers for the Olympics.

The first qualifier was in October at Sydney Olympic park for the Asia-Oceania championships.

Next year Daniel’s aim is to compete in the World Cup and in the 2015 World Championships which will most likely both be held in Europe.

In order to compete in these competitions Daniel endures intense training every week at least 3 days of the week and also regular training camps with the Australian team.
